FILTRATION & SEPARATION

Oil Filtration Systems

Pressure leaf filters, plate filter presses, screening and replacement elements. Select the equipment around a defined liquid and solids-separation duty.

PROCESS APPLICATION

Which stream are
you filtering?

Kernel oil, recovered EFB oil and EFB liquor are different feeds. Describe the separation objective and the upstream process.

StreamProcess reviewInformation for selection
Palm kernel oil after pressingDefine coarse-solids screening and oil clarification as connected steps.Oil flow, temperature, incoming solids, operating hours and required filtrate quality.
Recovered oil from an EFB processEstablish the oil/water separation stage before selecting oil polishing or clarification.Recovered-oil analysis, water content, upstream separation and solids carry-over.
EFB liquor or solids slurryReview treatability and the required cake-handling route before considering a plate press.Representative sample, solids concentration, liquid/cake targets and batch schedule.

Suspended-solids filtration does not by itself establish oil/water separation or removal of dissolved contaminants. An EFB application requires process and sample review.

SCREENING BEFORE FILTRATION

Define the opening.
Then check the duty.

For a screening enquiry, identify the material retained and the stream that must pass through. Include the existing separator and screen arrangement.

  • Screen diameter or external dimensions and frame profile.
  • Required aperture or mesh specification, with wire size where known.
  • Deck count, feed distribution and outlet arrangement.
  • Liquid temperature, solids/fibre content and cleaning method.

Machine diameter and mesh count are identification data. Neither is a liquid-flow guarantee.

CAPACITY & SPECIFICATION

Use the right
basis for sizing.

Request a data sheet that separates the equipment geometry, operating duty and acceptance criteria.

ParameterWhat it describesWhat KCP needs
Filtration area · m²The effective media area available for the selected arrangement. The supplier’s defined area and the proposed leaf or plate arrangement.
Liquid throughput · m³/h or L/hA flow rate for a specified liquid under stated conditions.Liquid identity, temperature, viscosity if known, solids load and filtrate target.
Plate size & cake volumePlate geometry and the solids-holding space in the selected pack.Plate/chamber type, count, cake target and complete batch cycle.
Pressure & temperatureSeparate design limits, operating conditions and component requirements.Specified duty and supplier-approved vessel, plate, seal and media ratings.
Cycle & availabilityTime spent filling, filtering, draining, discharging and cleaning.Operating hours, manual/automatic scope and any parallel-unit requirement.

Selected KCP model codes, standard areas, pressure ratings, materials and duty-based flow tables: Subject to KCP confirmation. Supplier-approved specifications must be mapped to each offered configuration before publication.

Replace the element.
Check the interface.

For leaves, screens, cloths and seals, send the existing element drawing, full photographs, connection details and operating conditions.

  • Leaf dimensions, outlet connection and installed support arrangement.
  • Cloth profile, feed-hole location and attachment pattern.
  • Screen frame dimensions, aperture and retaining method.
  • Seal profile, cross-section and chemical/temperature duty.

FILTRATION QUESTIONS

Before you request a quotation.

Questions before you enquire

Can a filter be selected from plant capacity alone?

No. A plant’s feedstock tonnage does not establish the actual liquid volume, solids concentration or filtration cycle. Provide the liquid-stream duty and the process arrangement.

Can KCP offer different filter sizes?

Discuss the required duty with KCP. The selected arrangement, effective area, pressure and temperature ratings, materials and scope are confirmed against the supplier’s approved data. A universal capacity range is not stated here.

Is a plate filter press suitable for every EFB stream?

Suitability depends on the actual liquid or slurry and the separation objective. Share a representative analysis, upstream process and required cake/filtrate condition for review.

What is needed for replacement leaves or cloths?

Send the filter model, element or plate drawing, connection and fixing details, photographs and operating duty. Visual similarity alone does not confirm compatibility.
