FILTRATION AREA

Specify the oil duty.
Then select the area.

Application

Oil clarification and filtration in kernel-oil processing or a defined recovered-oil stream, subject to feed analysis.

Feedstock or material

Oil with suspended solids; specify temperature, viscosity, moisture and solids loading.

Process role

The liquid passes through supported filter media while solids accumulate on the leaves. Filtrate collection and cake discharge require a defined operating cycle.

Technical specifications

Technical duty & configuration

ParameterWhat the selected data sheet must state
Filtration area / leavesEffective area, number of leaves, dimensions and outlet connections
Flow / solids dutyTested or guaranteed flow with oil, temperature, viscosity and solids basis
Cake loading / cyclePermitted cake loading, filtration period and complete turnaround time
Pressure / temperatureDesign, operating and test values; applicable code and documentation
Wetted materials / mediaVessel, leaves, mesh, supports, manifolds and seal materials separately
Discharge / auxiliariesDry or wet cake route, valves, feed pump, instruments and utility consumption

Vertical and horizontal pressure-leaf arrangements are described in the supplied KCP catalogue. Discuss vessel access, leaf withdrawal, cake discharge, maintenance clearance and the available floor area.

Horizontal arrangements can be reviewed where maintenance access, leaf withdrawal or the required operating arrangement favour a horizontal vessel.

Subject to KCP confirmation — Selected dimensions, pressure, temperature, materials, motor, controls, performance and available options. No universal values are approved.

Practical selection points

  • Compare the area and cake duty on the same stated basis.
  • Include the full filtration and turnaround cycle in the duty review.
  • Allow access for cleaning, media replacement and cake discharge.
  • Identify the duties and responsibilities of the filter supplier and the plant.

Related parts & support

  • Filter leaves and associated supports
  • Seals, outlet connections and gaskets
  • Cake-discharge valve components
  • Selected feed-pump and instrument spares

Compatibility is checked against the approved model, dimensions and material specification.

Questions before you enquire

Can this filter be matched directly to a PK22, PK32 or EFB12 press?

No direct capacity match is claimed. Press-feed tonnage differs from liquid filtration duty. Provide actual oil or liquor flow and representative feed information before selection.

Are dry and wet cake discharge both standard?

The choice depends on the selected filter and process. Subject to KCP confirmation for discharge method, utilities and included auxiliaries.
