FILTRATION / PLATE FILTER PRESS
Plate Filter Presses
Batch filtration equipment selected by plate arrangement, filter media and the required cake-handling duty.
Application
Batch filtration of a suitable oil or slurry where a selected cloth and plate arrangement can retain suspended solids.Feedstock or material
Oil or solids-bearing slurry, identified by composition, solids concentration, particle properties and temperature.Process role
The closed plate assembly contains filter cloth and cake spaces. Feed pressure drives filtrate through the cloth; retained solids are discharged after the cycle and safe depressurisation.Technical specifications
| Parameter | Quotation data required |
|---|---|
| Effective filtration area | Selected duty-specific area in m² |
| Liquid flow | Feed, temperature, viscosity and solids basis |
| Design conditions | Pressure, temperature, materials and applicable documentation |
| Plate press details | Plate type/size, chamber count and cake volume where applicable |
| Operating cycle | Filtration, draining, cleaning and cake discharge |
| Final model and ratings | Subject to KCP confirmation |
Model, filtration area, operating pressure and throughput are selected for the application and confirmed in the quotation. No universal throughput is guaranteed.
Technical duty & configuration
| Parameter | What the selected data sheet must state |
|---|---|
| Plate arrangement | Plate-and-frame, recessed chamber or membrane; offered configuration to be confirmed |
| Plate dimensions / count | Actual plate dimensions, number of plates and number of cake chambers |
| Effective area | Total effective filtration area in m² for the assembled pack |
| Cake volume | Total usable chamber volume in litres per cycle and the chamber depth |
| Flow / cycle capacity | Batch filtrate or feed volume and the full cycle time with process conditions |
| Closure / feed pressure | Closure design and hydraulic duty separately from allowable filtration pressure |
| Plate / cloth materials | Temperature and chemical compatibility, cloth specification and cleaning method |
| Frame / auxiliaries | Frame and wetted materials, feed pump, drip trays, discharge and controls |
“Plate filter” can refer to different constructions. Specify whether the duty calls for a plate-and-frame press, a recessed-chamber press or another supplier-approved arrangement. Membrane squeezing and automatic plate shifting are options only where confirmed.
For hot oil, verify plate, cloth and seal temperature limits. For EFB-related slurry, review fibre content, cloth blinding, cake release and the downstream handling route through suitable testing.
Subject to KCP confirmation — Selected dimensions, pressure, temperature, materials, motor, controls, performance and available options. No universal values are approved.
Practical selection points
- Compare the area and cake duty on the same stated basis.
- Include the full filtration and turnaround cycle in the duty review.
- Allow access for cleaning, media replacement and cake discharge.
- Identify the duties and responsibilities of the filter supplier and the plant.
Related parts & support
- Selected filter cloths and plates
- Feed-port and sealing components where fitted
- Hydraulic closure and service components where supplied
Compatibility is checked against the approved model, dimensions and material specification.
Questions before you enquire
Does a 630 mm plate establish the filter capacity?
No. Plate size alone does not state filtration area or cake volume. The plate design, chamber depth, chamber count and media determine the pack; the feed and full cycle determine throughput.
Can you supply an oil filter press as well as a slurry press?
KCP has confirmed plate-filter supply from India. The supplier, plate design, wetted materials and temperature limits must match the requested oil or slurry duty; one configuration is not assumed to cover every application.
Will this recover oil from untreated EFB liquor?
That result is not promised. A plate filter retains suspended solids; it is not a complete oil/water separator. The recovered-oil and solids streams need a defined process and sample review.
Why is there a diagram instead of a machine photograph?
The diagram explains the filtration principle. The selected press configuration is confirmed in the quotation.
